Pembroke College Main Entrance

Pembroke College Main Entrance Security Screen

A feasibility study for a new security screen in the main entrance passageway of Pembroke College in Cambridge.

The entrance is located in a Grade I Listed Building, within Old Court: home to the Chapel by Sir Christopher Wren, and the Hall by Waterhouse. Old Court's history dates back to the 14th Century, with alterations and additions from each subsequent century.

The new screen is proposed as a steel and bronze set of three gates, set beneath the existing stone archway into Old Court. The proposal is intended to reflect the status of this location as the main entrance and, for security reasons, will deflect visitors through the adjacent Porter's Lodge during the night.
